The River Rail is The Brooklyn Rail’s semi-periodic foray into environment, art, and science. Many of the same considerations remain, of being in our time without the slickness that contributes so heavily to the financialization and commercialization of art. The River Rail differs materially from the monthly paper in that there are many different kinds of text and materials, and far fewer words, allowing for more freedom in the design. Because it’s printed on the same web press, I also pushed the interior to 2-color (cyan and black) to differentiate from the paper.
