Designing the Editorial Experience

As an editor-designer duo Sue Apfelbaum and I wrote and compiled this book that is fundamentally about how web and mobile has changed editorial design for good. The book contains case studies, teachings, and over a dozen interviews with people in various editorial roles. I also designed the book, and Damien Correll contributed the graphic for the cover.

Sue was my managing editor when I art directed a magazine, RES, in the mid-2000s. RES was an innovative magazine that covered the emerging digital world of video as well as music and art. Like many magazines of its time, however, it lacked a true web presence and was shut down by its parent company for lack of prospects.
