Bread Book reflects the optimism of the spring after the dark pandemic winter of 2020–21. From the beginning, I wanted the book to be otherwordly and cosmic, different from all of the very grounded (and usually very brown) books about bread. I was also very curious about mixing and layering fluorescents with CMYK to achieve different effects. After pulling together some print tests, I specified five different fluorescents throughout the book, two per signature, with a background image that would be different for each page edge.
